Oswaldo Guayasamín’s great triumph is his disturbing Edad de la Ira (Age of Wrath / Anger) series, where massive canvases tower over you with repetitive images of giant clenched hands, faces screaming in agony, skeletal figures that look utterly defeated and bodies in positions of torture.
